Frequently Asked Questions

How do I begin?
You may choose to start in our Beginner Mat Course or with a Private session in our studio. A brief description of sessions can be viewed under Sessions in the main menu.
To start on the equipment, you begin with booking a private session (you and one instructor). This includes Mat work and various equipment to suit your individual needs. It also forms part of your assessment, at the end of which you are then advised by your instructor of the best way to proceed. This can mean joining a Semi-private (small group class of up to 3 people with one instructor) or to continue with a couple more Privates (these can be full or half hour).
You can view the next Mat course times and venues under Sessions in the main menu.

Both the Mat courses and the equipment classes are suitable for beginners. We recommend private classes for clients with injuries or conditions that require close supervision.
The next step is to call us and make a booking or clarify any questions you may have: 03 9530 0511. Or you can email Sandra.
Please note: bookings for all classes are absolutely essential as we do not allow over-crowding.

Where do I go for a class?
Your Mat course will be held in one of two locations in Melbourne. The Mat times and venues can be viewed under Sessions in the main menu. All equipment and studio sessions are held at 557 Glenhuntly Rd, Elsternwick VIC Australia (see map).
Please arrive a few minutes early to all sessions to get focused and to prepare yourself if you need to. As a courtesy to instructors and other clients, all studio classes will conclude at the designated time.

What do I wear/bring?
Be sure to wear something comfortable to workout in; you may also wish to bring water and a towel, particularly in the warmer months. For hygienic reasons, we do not supply exercise mats in the Mat courses; participants will therefore need to supply their own mat.

Can I claim my Pilates class under private health cover?
Equipment (or studio) sessions can be claimed under physiotherapy; please note there is an additional $5 physio fee.

How often should I work out?
Your aim should be to work out 2 - 3 times a week. This may be exclusively Pilates, as our sessions constitute a full body workout, or you may choose to add Pilates to your current exercise routine. Pilates will compliment and enhance all other activities

As a complete beginner, should I start with an equipment class or in a mat class?
Beginners can start in either an equipment or a mat class. To start with equipment, you will need to do a few private sessions so that we can assess your level and get you familiarized with the apparatus.
